Tsukuba International Exchange Fair

May 14 - 15, 2005

This festival used to be on the 1st weekend of May, but it was held during the 2nd weekend this year. I've heard that the turnout was “huge” probably because the Tsukuba Express event was held at the same. The picture on the right was taken after 4:00 in the afternoon right before the end of the first day.

The festival was held in two separate sites, one in Tsukuba Center Square and the other in Chuuo Park/Tsukuba Expo Center area, which is across the street from the Tsukuba Center Square area. I only got to visit the main site, the Tsukuba Center Square, but many kids visited Chuuoh Park for various activities such as fun time with doggies and activities with JICA residents and personnel. Many also visited the Expo Center (or go to the Tsukuba Science Expo Memorial Foundation to view the image) to take advantage of its free admission days during the festival!

Performances by Chinese dance (exercise) club. The kid's performances were so adorable, and women's performace was gorgeous, like the one I've seen on TV (sorry, I don't know how to describe it)!

Performances by the kids, parents and teachers from the Liberty International School. LIS is one of two int'l schools in Tsukuba. Another one is an non-profit int'l school called Tsukuba International School (TIS).
